Welcome to AIHA Senior Non Check ( SNC ) Ice Hockey.

AIHA SNC Hockey utilizes IIHF ( International Ice Hockey Federation ) rules and is strickly no body checking & is officiated in this manner.

Our aim is to provide a fun & safe enviroment for all players where they can enjoy the great sport of Ice Hockey.

AIHA expects that all players participating display good sportsmanship & respect team mates , opposition players & officials.

Regardless of the level of competition , we are all participating in social adult hockey & here to enjoy the sport.

All players must be registered with AIHA & have a full set of protective equipment to play.

Season Information

SNC Hockey has 3 different leagues A , B & C League(s) that compete throughout the regular season to participate in the end of season playoffs.

Our regular season usually runs from mid March through to late October & SNC games are usually scheduled for Saturday / Sunday nights & are played at both of the following rinks

Paradise Avondale ( 150 Lansford Crescent , Avondale )
Paradise Botany ( Cnr Ti Rakau Drive & Botany Roads , Botany )

The following time slots are usually used for all regular season SNC games.

Saturday Night @ Avondale Rink
4.30 - 5.30pm - Game 1
5.45 - 6.45pm - Game 2
7.00 - 8.00pm - Game 3

Saturday Night @ Botany Rink
4.45 - 5.45pm - Game 1
6.00 - 7.00pm - Game 2
7.15 - 8.15pm - Game 3

Sunday Night @ Botany Rink
4.45 - 5.45pm - Game 1
6.00 - 7.00pm - Game 2
7.15 - 8.15pm - Game 3
8.30 - 9.30pm - Game 4 ( if required )

Warm up
1st period - 15 minutes
2nd period - 15 minutes
3rd period - 20 minutes
Warm up & break between periods is usually 2 minutes in duration , after game has finished teams have 2 minutes to shake hands & exit ice so it can be groomed for next game.

** during certain periods of our SNC season the game times can alter due to availability of ice slots , where possible snc can also utilize ice slots on Sunday nights as Avondale rink & week nights at both Auckland rinks where necessary.

SNC B League ( Non Checking )

Chiefs, Eagles , Grizzlies , Savages , Shannon , Spartans , Vipers , Wolves.

Number of Regular Season Games - 20 Games ( per team )

All teams play 20 regular season games to determine who goes into Playoff round ( Top 4 teams )

Game 1 - 1st Place vs 4th Place = SF Winner 1

Game 2 - 2nd Place vs 3rd Place = SF Winner 2

  • Final

Game 3 - SF Winner 1 vs SF Winner 2 = 2017 B League Champion 

 

SNC C League ( Non Checking )

Competing Teams 

Bears , Hawks , Lions , Scorpion , Tigers , Venom

Regular Season - Start date - Saturday 18th March 2017 

Number of Regular Season Games - 20 Games ( per team )
 

Playoff Format

  • Quaretr Finals

Game 1 - 3rd Place vs 6th Place = QF1

Game 2 - 4th Place vs 5th Place = QF2

  • Semi Final

Game 3 - QF1 vs 2nd Place = SF1

Game 4 - QF2 vs 1st Place = SF2

  • Final

Game 5 - SF1 vs SF2 = 2017 C League Champion 

Basic SNC competition rules to take note of

- SNC Goaltenders can only play for 1 SNC team due to increased numbers of goaltenders available throughout SNC Hockey. Goaltenders from a lower division can fill in for any SNC team in higher division when your regular goaltender is unavailable.

- SNC League players can only play for 1 SNC Team.

- New players are added to existing SNC teams on the discretion of the team managers & this is usually done during the registration period at the beginning of each new season ( January - March ) . Our aim is to place new players into respective League that best suits individuals skill & experience.

- SNC Hockey does not rent or loan Adult protective equipment & it is the responsibility of all players to have the correct equipment to play.

Players born after 1974 must wear fave protection & all female players must wear either a full cage or visor as face protection.

* Please note

NZIHL players & u20 AIHA Representative players are not elligible to play in SNC hockey competition.
All other players 17 years & under must play in there respective AIHA club hockey competition. 
SNC players must be 18 years of age ( or over ) to play SNC Hockey.

Check with SNC League Director ( snc@aiha.org.nz ) for clarification as any team found to not adhere to above rules will have that respective SNC competition game noted as FORFEIT & competition points awarded to opposition team.

If both teams found to not adhere to above rules no competition points are awarded. 

* Teams that forfeit games due to insufficient player numbers shall have 3 competition points deducted.

**Teams can apply for dispensation for an individual player with respect to playoff eligibility to SNC League Director but they must prove special circumstances apply

*** All teams must have paid LAST SNC ICE FEE ( in full ) & payment must appear in AIHA SNC account ( 01 0281 0088503 03 ) before 1st August to be be eligible for 2017 playoffs.
